Calamondin or Kumquat (forum)

Katherine starts with ...
Label says Calamondin. Tree fruits all year around. Fruit is round, with 7 segments, many seeds, bitter flesh and skin. Do you think this is Citrofortunella microcarpa (Calamondin)or Fortunella japonica (round kumquat)? Reason for questioning is the number of segments and does not peel easily, although the peel is more similiar to mandarin than Kumquat.

It doesn't sound like a cumquat, which is sour, but not bitter. I think I tried calamondin for marmalade once, but it was too bitter even for that.
Hope this helps.
