Cambuca (Marlierea edulis) and Guaparanga (Marlierea tomentosa) are Brazilian fruit trees I would love to grow.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a source of seeds or plants in Australia?

Hi Micarle,
That would be because the USA is a Guava Rust/Myrtle Rust/Eucalyptus Rust country. AQIS's website says we have to have an import permit to bring in seeds from there.
Thanks for your reply though - it's good to know there's someone else in Aus who's interested in these trees. We can only hope that there are seeds already here somewhere, perhaps descended from trees that came to our shores many years ago.

Cambuca is a slooooow growing tree with appearance like a jaboticaba twisted trunk and branching. Fruits are borne on trunk and nodes of branches just like jaboticaba. Leaves are lance shape curled down and furry underneath like the Jaboticaba-White (Myrciaria aureana) except the Jaboticaba-White leaves are rippled not smooth. Not easy to obtain seeds as the tree may take 5 to 20 years to produce fruits.
