worldztraveller starts with ... For summer shade I want to grow a mulberry tree by my fence line. I want it to get to about 6 meters high but not higher, and for it to grow about 7 meters wide but not into the neighbour's yard at all. Is this doable? My main fear is the tree getting OUT OF CONTROL so that I'm not able to prune it because (1) I can't reach it, or (2) the branches would fall onto the neighbour's roof. I'm willing to buy a pole saw (manual or chainsaw), and a ladder if need be. The tree would look something like this, with the trunk being on the left. ------- | | | {Me} {House is here} | About the Author worldztraveller Adelaide 2nd May 2018 9:30pm #UserID: 16880 Posts: 6 View All worldztraveller's Edible Fruit Trees |

Fruitylicious1 says... Hi Worldz Yes you can grow a Mulberry tree short and wide. Right now I am training my Mulberry tree just like that by espaliering it. Training it flat against a wall, fence or a free standing wire support with post at both ends. There is a Daley's video blog here on how to do it. Just type in espalier at Daley's main search bar and a selection will come up with a title dwarf red mulberry shahtoot espalier video. Click on it and you can watch and learn. Enjoy!!!
