Phil@Tyalgum says... I was looking at "Lost crops of the Incas" book and I think there was a reference to them. Let me know how you get on. Pity about Chiltern seeds, I've always found them good to deal with and the resultant plants of high quality. There is also a variety of Cape Gooseberry grown in Italy called "Giallo Grosso" but I cant seem to find any more info about it (it is mentioned in the Seed Savers handbook). You don't know anyone with relatives in Italy do you lol? I noticed my local plant nursery is selling a variety called Golden Gem, I wonder if it is anything special. | About the Author TyalgumPhil Murwillumbah 25th February 2010 4:15pm #UserID: 960 Posts: 1377 View All TyalgumPhil's Edible Fruit Trees |
virginny says... Phil,I looked at Peace Seeds and found their Cape Goosebery which is described as sourced from Guatemala in the 60's . They then say it is 1 inch in size. Did you see a description of one 2 inches across? Alas ,I have no Italian connections. But I will look for Italian seed companies. | About the Author sydney 25th February 2010 6:57pm #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |

John Mc says... Hi virginny, Found this site: http://www.theitaliangardener.com.au/ an excellent Italian vege seed site but no mention of any Cape Gooseberries. I wonder if an email to them might help? | About the Author John Mc1 Warnervale NSW 25th February 2010 9:09pm #UserID: 3373 Posts: 72 View All John Mc1's Edible Fruit Trees |
