Hi Asder - I regularly remove mine before they are fully ripe, as they drop off the tree once ripe and mine are huge so they get completely bruised if I let them drop. They always ripen perfectly within 1-5 days. Also means I can stagger eating them (I started eating mine four to six weeks back) and not get a huge glut all at once.

Cheers,Fiona

I picked up an armfull of fruit around a very old tree near my place today. the tree is a very old seedling tree with unknown origins. This one weighed in at 1.4kg. The fruit could be better tasting, but I'll keep persisting with them till mine ripen up.

If you had to choose the best tasting fruit, cherimoyas would be up there. Even Mark Twain endorsed that sentiment!

I think mark twain made the statement while in hawaii and it may have been like the apricot and the apple with mistaken identity.I am yet to taste a good cherimoya but accept the best ones are as good as the best atemoyas. It is amazing how similar the 2 above hand held fruit shots are.

I hope the known cv's are a massive improvement over the fruit of this old tree or we are in trouble. This one never gets as soft as say, the African Pride. It stays relatively chewy till the rot sets in.
