fiona_fin says... Hi Asder - I regularly remove mine before they are fully ripe, as they drop off the tree once ripe and mine are huge so they get completely bruised if I let them drop. They always ripen perfectly within 1-5 days. Also means I can stagger eating them (I started eating mine four to six weeks back) and not get a huge glut all at once. John Mc says... I picked up an armfull of fruit around a very old tree near my place today. the tree is a very old seedling tree with unknown origins. This one weighed in at 1.4kg. The fruit could be better tasting, but I'll keep persisting with them till mine ripen up.
