Kkhuynh1 starts with ... Hi everyone I’m having an issue with my cherry tree. I’ve had the tree in a pot for a year then transplanted it to the ground 3 months ago. 2-3 weeks ago we had a few days of heavy rain and I think the tree suffered from being overwatered and water logged so I backed off from watering the plant because the leaves started to turn yellow and dropping off. The leaves were looking sad and wilting. Therefore I have backed off from watering it and it’s been a week since I last watered the tree. Now today I touched the leaves and it’s dry and crunchy. I scratched back a few branches especially the top end and middle part to see if it’s dying and it’s still nice and green. Here’s a few pictures

Farouk says... Hi, I am no Cherry Tree expert. Did you have the pot in different light conditions to the light conditions it is now in, in-ground? It might just be in shock from the sudden direct sun. Are those new buds forming on the tip? I don't think you will get root rot from water at this time of the year in our climate, but it does depend on the plant medium. Let us know how it goes. If you are confident it is dying, you should try to do a rescue cutting. | About the Author Farouk SOUTH WENTWORTHVILLE,2145,NSW 1st November 2021 3:03pm #UserID: 8110 Posts: 206 View All Farouk's Edible Fruit Trees |
