Chilean guava (forum)

The Chilean guava description makes it sound like the perfect plant for me as I just love guavas. How would you describe the taste of the fruit? Where can I acquire some fruit to try before I buy? Will they do ok in the subtropics? So many questions, but buying plants is an investment and there's so many to choose from and with limited growing space (and budget) , I really do need to be selective.

The chilean guava is quite unlike other guavas and is a real taste sensation, ... like a strawberry sherbet bomb i have heard one person describe it, although i dont think i would go that far though. It is a good choice in a shady spot of the garden and should grow and fruit in brisbane, even if you have limited space as it forms only a small shrub.
Hope this helps.
