Citrus Planting Advice

Hello. I've read through some of the older posts here but I wanted to ask for some more specific advice. I'm currently clearing out an area of an old bush/tree and I think the area would be a great place to plant my potted Mandarin tree as it gets a nice amount of sun.

I wanted some general planting advice, I would say the mandarin is no longer a young tree, but still easy enough to plant, and healthy. The soil in the area I would say is more on the sandy side but not completely. Could the old bush/tree have "ruined" the soil? May I need to do a lot of conditioning? Also I think the ground there has been a target of stray cats doing their business so I don't know if that causes other problems.

Yeah so if anyone has any advice on anything I said I would appreciate the help. :) Thanks.

It sounds like it would benefit from a lot of organic matter to hold moisture and nutrient, It could be a bit tired out from having a large bush/tree in the area.
