I know coffee loves mild climate of the tropics but cannot tolerate freezing weather.Coffee loves the clay loam and loamy soils high in organic matter.it needs frequent watering in dry areas and trimming to ensure balanced growth of branches.needs high amount of nitrogen.during intense summer heat it needs partial shade condition to protect the leaf damage.the best variety that can produce higher yiels is coffea robusta - a variety with blueish green foliage but the most exotic aroma is coffea arabica- a variety with smaller leaves and has very thin stem or trunk.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. It will be of great assistance to me, does not frost at my place and I hopefully have the perfect spot in semi shade for it.
Cheers Kay
