2 custard apple plant-slow growth?? (forum)

Mimi starts with ...
Brought 2 plants about 9 months ago and one started to grow tiny leaves about 2 months ago and then stopped. The other plant is stick only? They are both in pots...HELP!!
Had a look at the root-There is no root hairs at all! There are a few stubs (short, thick, 20mm
long) that look like they were roots at one time - but no root hairs.
Is this normal? If not, how can I revive the plant?
Your advice would be appreciated....

Yes, a couple of mine looked like that so I dug them up, it had barely any roots, let alone any healthy ones. I thought it was due to drought conditions, or rather me not being able to water them enough for their needs.
One of them recovered when I potted it back up and kept the water up to it. The others were too far gone to recover. It's back in the ground now with retriculation twice a day and is now powering on and flowering this year.

Yes the problem for me here with them is that they only grow December-April or until the ground gets dry and generally it doesn't rain a drop during those months and they don't like the dry. In the mountains where they are supposed to grow they are growing during the rainy season
