Deep Pipe Irrigation (forum)

AngieB starts with ...
I am wanting to plant bare root fruit trees and am wondering if it is a good idea to install a deep root watering tube (using drainage pipe) in an L-shape before I plant. Or install a piece of poly pipe with holes drilled in it as a vertical watering system. We live in what can be a drought area with hot summers and cold winters. Thank you in advance.

I guess that depends on your expectation, the best way in my opinion is to buy pvc pipes (for sewer), put them close to the roots (1 meter or so) with one end above the ground 10cm or so, then install a poly pipe and use some timer to control irrigation.

If you live in the drought area and if your tree needs water in the first few years then it is good idea to use the drainage hose 50mm supplied from Bunning. Run the hose in circle at the bottom of the hole and exit (1 or 2) vertical 200mm above the ground as council did for the young tree in native strip. Cheers
