Diseases on tropical apple trees (forum)

My 2 tropical apple trees have had dying off at the end of branches for the past at least 2 years. Also areas along the branches of 2-3 mm depth chewed off strips.

Apples have fallen off last year (when it was not so dry) and this year also, mostly when large olive size. The couple of remaining apples of plum size have had what looks like some moth attack (so I guess that is codlin moth).

I pruned the died back branches, with dipping my secateurs in meths. spirits between cuts (as rec. by DPI) and it seems to have arrested the problem. But interested to know if anyone else has same problem in case it recurs. DPI not able to be of any further help.

Northern NSW might be too tropical for flourishing apple production of even tropical apples.Incompatable grafts, some insect attacks and even a few nutrient excess issues might need to be investigated.Sometimes apparent cures coincide with things getting better anyway.
