jakfruit etiquette says... The Devils Fig Solanum chrysotrichum is the largest growing of three intro species, the others used as rootstock are Wild tobacco bush Solanum mauritianum, and Pea eggplant Solanum torvum. All are weeds, however they also act as pioneer species on disturbed sites, and their fruit attracts fruit eating birds, which poop other tree seeds as they feed starting the regen cycle. If you use these as rootstock you shouldnt allow them to mature to seed stage at new sites. Other possibilities are S.mammosum Nipple fruit and native Kangaroo apple species. | About the Author jakfruit etiquette vic 28th February 2019 8:10am #UserID: 5133 Posts: 915 View All jakfruit etiquette's Edible Fruit Trees |

Potty Bob 1 says... Think I will try grafting to kangaroo Apple , sounds good to me , easy enough to get , already have it . The taste of kangaroo Apple is almost a cross between eggplant and tomato , very good for cooking into a sauce ,but not much else , can't really eat out of hand . Toxic if not ripe . | About the Author Potty Bob 1 POTTSVILLE,2489,NSW 1st March 2019 12:00pm #UserID: 19705 Posts: 59 View All Potty Bob 1's Edible Fruit Trees |
