mrsclax starts with ... Hi, I live at Raymond Terrace near Newcastle and am looking for some ideas for fast growing deciduous trees, preferably fruit but happy to take suggestions on non-fruit trees. Last year we had our NW-W facing verandah enclosed so it has glass exterior walls and we've found that even with thermal curtains it's still quite warm in summer. So I am looking at the idea of putting trees around the verandah to help cool it in summer. (My husband wants to go with awnings.) What would be suitable for this job, not growing much more than 6m tall, fast growing and preferably producing fruit for this area? Thanks :) | About the Author Michele Raymond Terrace 24th January 2017 7:59am #UserID: 15445 Posts: 3 View All Michele's Edible Fruit Trees |

Figbarron says... i second the peach. Top tip: wait until june and get a bare root peach or nectarine tree from bunnings. They will fruit the same year you get them they are also fast growing too. If you want figs, you may need to construct a "e;fig pit"e; to contain the roots or grow them in pots as their root system is extensive. by they grow very fast and provide you with enough fruit for you and the critters when they are mature! | About the Author Figbarron FRANKSTON SOUTH,3199,VIC 10th February 2017 9:53pm #UserID: 14796 Posts: 32 View All Figbarron's Edible Fruit Trees |
