Fig tree- borer in fruit (forum)

Figlover starts with ...
We have a genoa figtree that fruits well, however every year the fruit either drop off before they are mature or aren't edible due to insect damage. I assume it is a borer issue-however the damage is done to the fruit and no sign of borers in the trunk. Any ideas about how to prevent borer attack?Organic methods only

If you haven't been able to locate the holes, saw dust or poo residue then you have another problem. Borers kill a tree and branches very rapidly. Borers would result in a dying or ill looking tree. The overall health would be poor including leaves etc and not just fruit drop.

Is it a White Genoa? (prone to fruit drop when young)
How old is the tree? (sometimes prone to fruit drop when immature or with insufficient watering)

What is the actual damage to the fruit you can see?

However, the only common remedy for borers is prevention with lime & acrylic paint brushed on the trunk. But even that isn't 100%. As far as I know, there isn't even an insecticide available to kill borers, so food luck in finding a pure organic remedy if it is indeed the cause.
