fruit Malaysia

    9 responses

asder starts with ...
I'm writing from the E coast of Malaysia and this is the fruit summary-surprising how little local stuff there is --longans ,duku, pines, durian blanda which is what they call soursop(Dutch durian). Heaps of stuff from California such as grapes for 6 AUD. Apples from China. Mangoes from Thailand Even Kiwifruit from NZ . Pommellos which may be local that sell at 4 dollars each. And Air Jeruk which looks great but is no better than sweet and wet. Bit disappointed.

asder sorry I was rude before I thought you were someone else taking on a different name.
I have a few malaysian fruits like duku johor from the south, durian red prawn from penang and duku langsat from your area.I just received honey melon and kuini seeds from selangor as well.A malaysian friend who has a farm and travels the country is looking out for the best chempadak, crunchy orange jacks, pulasan and honey salak. He did not tell me of all the foreign fruit.

Mike, you have kuini seeds?
If you ever have a spare I would love one!
If anyone comes across lalee jewo (Mangifera lalijiwa) seeds I'd be interested in buying/trading for one of those too...

BJ Peter S asked if I could get some top kuini. One for him,one for me and one for you.I also have a clean sweep of all but one that I and you for that matter were seeking but only a couple or one seed of each. The motherlode is coming and I will alert you when they are in hand. That trashy bunch you saw now has some more muscle.

Mike, sounds great and I'm well looking forward to it.
I'll see if I can get seed or seedlings of one special plant that lives near me to send up as a thank-you.

Had my first chempadek. Thought it was a small Jackfruit when I first saw it . The taste is excellent ... think Jackfruit crossed with durian . The fruit was 2 dollars a kilo and there was not a lot to eat after cleaning the inedibles but wow.

There is one called honey chempadak in malaysia that looks like a yellow fleshed jackfruit and is supposed to be excellent. The flesh of the honey is quite sloppy.
