Growing avo tree sheppard and has in Charleville QLD (forum)

Meg starts with ...
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light as to how to keep my avo plants alive. I live in charlevile where it can get extremely hot dry winds.. Wondering where's the best position to plant them? Shad, sun?? Ect any tips would be greatly appriciated

In Nth Vic, with very hot dry summers, farm Avos in open paddocks were planted with individual shade cloth covers.(Also served as some frost protection). As the plants get bigger they create their own microclimate,ie self shade. You probably want to allow morning sun, but protect from afternoon heat+wind. You could also probably protect them with other tall annual crops ie corn, sunflowers, tall sorghum or interplant sugarcane, deciduous fruit trees, Leucaenas etc.
