Tony starts with ... HI, I am looking to plant a Lychee - Bosworth 3 and Custard apple in the backyard. We are in Sydney and the backyard isnt too large. Is Bosworth 3 a suitable variety for sydney. And what would be the best Custard apple species to go with. Pink Mammoth seems good but i am a bit concerned about the size of the tree. should i go with African pride. What would be the best time to plant them. Thanks Tony | About the Author Raj Sydney 13th August 2010 6:20pm #UserID: 4078 Posts: 4 View All Raj's Edible Fruit Trees |

HappyEarth says... Hey Tony, Bosworth 3 is the Lychee to go for. As for custard apples, african pride has an advantage compared to Pinks mammoth in that its self-pollinating, although its not as tasty. Id go for cherimoyas instead - similar tree and fruits but much better in every respect. As with most fruit trees you need to prune them back each year and this is what determines the final size of the tree - not so much the variety. Hope this helps, rich www.happyearth.com.au | About the Author HappyEarth1 Wollongong 15th August 2010 7:26am #UserID: 215 Posts: 94 View All HappyEarth1's Edible Fruit Trees |
