Leanne starts with ... I have an established nectarine tree very close to our pool of our recently purchased house. The previous owners poured the concrete around the tree.(leaving about a foot around) It has a lot of fuit on it but wasnt looked after so it has grubs and the fruit is not eatible. I was wondering if it were possible to reloate it to another area of the yard and if so how would I do that. Ps I am new to gardening. | About the Author Leanne3 Sydney 9th December 2008 4:01am #UserID: 1751 Posts: 1 View All Leanne3's Edible Fruit Trees |
juz says... Poor thing, amazing what some people do! I would try and move it in winter when it is dorment. In the mean time, go around the outside edge of the concrete, and sever the roots of the tree with a sharp shovel. Probably just do 1 side, then in say 3 months do the other. Give it regular doses of seasol but not alot of fertiliser. Doing this will make the root ball smaller to get it through the hole, while letting the tree put on more fine feeding roots. This is a good way to move most trees when you have time to do so. | About the Author Justine57 Jervis Bay 9th December 2008 6:05am #UserID: 664 Posts: 11 View All Justine57's Edible Fruit Trees |
