Hi, I have a problem with my 3 year old Icecream bean tree. Some of the branches are dying off and when you look closer at the branches there is a ring around them like a insect or grub has burrowed under the bark. I would like to know how to treat this issue. Thanks

It must be some kind of borer
There's many options
Physical or chemical
So easiest is to inject something nasty into the tree. Check out the poisons section for what's registered for borers.
Synthetic chems aren't kosher in today's scene but they work, they're available and their residual or transfer over is miniscule.
You might find sonething like malathion
Realistically such a targeted use Will save your tree and give you far less exposure than eating commercial apples.
Dont want that? Ok. Well now we get illegal
Yes its true most organic remedies are technically illegal, because if it's not registered with apvma for use on a crop, it's illegal! True
So natural options
Being illegal you'll just have to google them yourself..
Poison
Neem oil
Pyrethrum ( or semisynthetic pyrethroids)
Nicotine
Dipel
Physical
Diatomaceous earth
White oil
Mineral oil
Tar
