Going to plant this to help attract bees. Anyone know a good variety for Brisbane?

I grew English lavender for many years, that did alright. As for bee-attracting plants, they do love my perennial basil, think it's Thai maybe? Also they seem to like cuphea, I have the purple/pink one. I tried borage but it did not grow well for me, needed too much water I think.

I grew the Englosh one. It's tough and self layered, but older parts died off a fair bit. I also stuck thick pruning s in the ground and around a quarter would take, but those usually never got beyond a season before dying off. If you are planting in heavy soil, salvias and thai basil would be better. Crepe Myrtle, guava and panama Berry are super attractive to them, with blue bandeds going nuts for the last two. Aloes work well when in flower. Purple Tradescantia is also supposed to work well, but I am not a fan of the entire family with the invasive nature of the native ones.

Bruce how does the Thai basil handle heat? Where they'd be planted is really hot--baking really.

I'm only keeping one guava now owing to fruit fly.
