Lemon tree roots

Lyn England starts with ...
We wish to espalier a lemon tree and lime tree along our side fence but have poly pipe storm water pipes about 800mm from the fence and about 300mm deep. Will the lemon & lime tree roots interfere with the pipes

I'm not sure about the pipes Lyn, but my general understanding is that citrus trees have relatively shallow root systems.
