This could be the winter yellows. The nutrients are pulled back into the tree in winter. If it is yellow in the growing season it is a sign of a lack of nutrients. Fertilizing your tree now in winter will not help and you should wait for the weather to warm up before feeding your tree.

Adding well rotted cow manure works a treat.Just add it around the drip line and water in well.
