If you felt like a drive, you could go up to the Hunter Valley around Singleton. I went through there about a month ago and noticed large round bales for sale on the side of the road. They were very cheap, I think from memory around $40. I m guessing they would only be good for mulch. I didn t have the chance to take a closer look at the time, but I would love to get one for myself. Don t know if it would fit in my 7 x 5 box trailer, they are quite big, and I imagine heavy. I ll report back if I get up there in the near future.

That's interesting John...i'm in newcastle and have been thinking i might start looking around for sources of cheap mulch as i think i'm going to need quite a bit over the next year or so...might have to pop up there and have a look.

Great price John Mc - I pay $50 just for a straw bale that big! - and I can fit the huge round ones in my box trailer (normal size) and one in the back of the Hilux (just)...they just roll off and then I roll them to where I need them (no hills tho'....!)
Small square lucern bales are around $12 each here...a luxury (and even more in a drought..)

You'd better be quick, they're banning those bales from August 1st - the cattle can't get a square meal...
