VF says... Tetraphylla is grown from seed, and can take 8-10 yrs to set nuts (from experience). As far as I know, this species has no cultivars and still retains the name "bush nut", and is self-pollinating. The newer commercial varieties based on Integrifolia have more of an issue with needing cross-pollination. If you still choose to get a second plant, successful pollination can be achieved by either variety. | About the Author VF Wongawallan 22nd October 2012 10:06am #UserID: 6795 Posts: 736 View All VF's Edible Fruit Trees |

VF says... No problem Andy, although I'm hardly an expert - I just used to play around with them on my parents farm many years ago. I think that Tetraphylla is not cultivated as the nuts are lower in fat and higher in sugar, making them harder to process and less tasty - they are yummier to eat raw though. BTW, when they start setting nuts, don't expect many for the first couple of years. | About the Author VF Wongawallan 17th November 2012 5:49pm #UserID: 6795 Posts: 736 View All VF's Edible Fruit Trees |
