Macadamia tree varieties (forum)

Hi,
I am looking to plant a row of macadamia trees to block direct view from our neighbours.
I have noticed there are many varieties of macadamia trees available, so am looking for advice as to which variety would be best suited to these criteria:
-Good for growing in lower hunter valley
-Dense foliage, at least about 5m tall, and relatively close to ground if possible.
-decent nut production, though not necesarily top yield. The aforementioned criteria take preference over this.
Thankyou all.

Further to this, does anybody know a source of information on how to grow new macadamia trees from nuts, or where to source fresh nuts suitable for planting?
Thanks again.

The bloke at the Botanic Ark Nursery might be able to help you, we bought some seed grown macadamias from him two years ago which have done well, he was friendly and helpful. 147 Copelands Rd. Warragul Vic. 3820 Ph. (03) 56235268

Does anybody know what type of macadamia tree hybrid? or integrifolia? is growing at the base of Mount Eliza , King's Park in Perth. The leaves shape is somewhat similar to an A4 but without any spines and nuts to about 25mm diameter including the husk.

I have Louis Glowinski's complete book of fruit growing as well as the DPI Queensland Macadamia variety handbook but it is still difficult to identify positively, I may have to revisit the site and take some leaf measurements etc.I think it is an integrifolia type certainly if the flowers are white or cream then it is probably an integrifolia type.
