Jantina says... Personally I would say that if you had a frost free warm position for it that it would likely survive and it's worth a try but it may never be a thriving tree. Depends on how desperate you are to have a neem tree. I'd try it in a pot against a north facing preferably brick wall and give it winter protection. | About the Author Jantina Mt. Theany says... Hi Jantina, Did you plant neem in Mt. Gambier. I used to live in Mt.Gambier when I first came to Australia in 1984. I wish to plant a neem tree but I m not sure whether it is the same in my country, cambodia. Young shoots and flowers are edible. There are 2 kind of neem: Azadirachta indica and Azadirachta excelsa but I do not know which one unless I can see. If you know please let me know. thanks | About the Author Theany Sydney 25th May 2010 2:45pm #UserID: 2116 Posts: 6 View All Theany's Edible Fruit Trees |

Fruitylicious1 says... Hi Hermant I think Mildura is the best place for you to start a Neem tree plantation. Most of the fruit tree plantation in Vic are located on those localities where most of the agricultural infrastructure are already in place like the irrigation system which is very critical when it comes to commercial scale plantations. Source of labor is also abundant because of the medium size population and a lot of residents there have agricultural experience because of the prevalent agricultural industry in the area. The growing season is also longer and the winter is shorter and milder than the towns closer to the coast. There are a lot of small agricultural towns near the NSW border that you can choose from besides Mildura. Just do a bit of research and I'm sure you'll find an ideal place within Vic to establish your proposed Neem tree plantation.
