I planted my coffee plants and they get watered the soil is damp but not overly. The plants all have new growth. Should they be in the shade ? I live in south east Queensland.

Your leaves don't look sunburned (as young leaves will be harder hit), so I'd look to soil and water ...
What is your soil pH? (Coffee likes it slightly acidic to neutral - 6.0-7.5)
How well drained is your soil? (They don't like water hanging around their roots too long - make sure the top 1-2cm is dry before you water again). Plus if you water too much nutrients disappear.
