Chris starts with ... I live in Sydney and would like to grow the Panama Red Passionfruit. However, the latest Organic Gardener magazine suggests that its really only suitable for Tropical and Sub-tropical areas. 1)Has anyone in Sydney successfully grown the Panama Red? 2)If so, is the flavour and fruit quantity affected in a more temperate zone? I just don't want to waste time, effort and money if I should be sticking to the black passion-fruit varieties for my climate. | About the Author Chris Sydney 31st July 2009 10:59pm #UserID: 2281 Posts: 263 View All Chris 's Edible Fruit Trees |
Polly says... Hello Chris, I don't know if this will be helpful - I have a Panama Red passionfruit growing untended totally in Newcastle - it is on north side of a house and gets only about 1 or 2 frosts each year. It grows and fruits well. I am also familiar with one growing well in Gresford that gets regular frosts - it hasn't yet fruited so cannot vouch for the taste | About the Author Polly Newcastle 4th August 2009 4:25pm #UserID: 1702 Posts: 23 View All Polly's Edible Fruit Trees |
