Persimmons

Can anyone tell me when I can expect to see new growth on a persimmon after the winter dormancy? I live in the south-east Queensland corner. It looks 'dead', however the branches still seem to be very pliable. A little anxious - wondering if I have murdered it!

They come into leaf pretty late compared to other deciduous trees. Scrapping a little bit of bark off with your finger nail will tell you if the tree is alive - if its green underneath then its Ok.

Hope this helps,

Rich

If it is pliable - it should be ok. I got two trees - 10-12 yrs old and the branches does look brown and scrawny - but they are ok. The dead one are stiff and break off easily. They do come to leaf pretty late after the apples, pears etc.
