Plum trees

Hi, I need advice please. I live on the Sth Coast, NSW (two streets from the ocean) and have 9 plum trees on my standard block. I am trying (without much success) to find info on them. The previous owner left me these names... Prune D'Ager, Mariposa, Donsworth, Wilson, Santa, Santsuma, Robe de Sargent, Green Gage and Coe's Early Drop. I wish to remove some of the trees but would like to know which ones are cross pollinators as they are the ones I will take out. The house is 10 years old and the trees seem to be various ages (going by the size of the trunks). Any help would be gratefully received.

michelle,
why do you want to take out
the cross pollinators.
i know that the prune dager,
green gage and the coes golden drop
pollinate each other.
the green gage is a very popular
variety for it fruit.
dont know anything about the others
but a google search on those names
should give you something.

Hi Michelle, like Peter I'm bewildered as to why you would want to remove the cross pollinators and I'm thinking perhaps you have a misunderstanding of what cross pollinators do i.e. no cross pollinators no fruit set on your plums (and by the way you have some choice plums there).Have you tasted any of these plums yet? Think hard before you chop down a fruiting tree.

Hi Bonnie/Roleystone Julie - do u mean for each other? I am sure Sunrise gulf is a japanese plum and Greengage a european plum?
Sunrise gulf needs Santa rosa and green gages need something else - coe's golden drop or such ...Roleystone Julie will know this one?

I tried Greengage for the first time recently - it was the best plum I have ever had.... as good as a mangoe any day.. (well..if the "tropical" forum members can rub it in....!?)

Can you grow greengages in Geraldton amanda? I would have thought it wasn't quite cold enough.

My Coe's golden drop is still going strong, but unfortunately the greengage died, so I get nothing from it. Tossing up wether to buy another greengage this winter.

Hi Julie - sadly no...I can only grow Japanese plums here. I would love to grow greengages and those President Prunes (?). Maybe when we move south :-) Is it very hard to find greengage plants?

Haven't looked yet. Last one was from Wandilla I think. I guess I'd better not leave it too long, or they will all be gone!

Does anyone know where I can buy a Donsworth plum tree? I have convinced myself that that is the variety of delicious blood plums that stay firm when ripe and have a distinct green mottled appearance that in my youth I had access to but I can't find where to buy one that can be shipped to NSW.

Hi Amanda, thanks for your help. MAFG sell fruit from a Donsworth tree but the list of plum trees available for sale does not include the Donsworth. This seems to be typical - I have followed many of the links Google throws up and can't find a Donsworth tree for sale.
