Itdepends says... What would you call small? You can keep a blood plum down to about a 3m diameter x 2-3m high with pruning. Maybe 2m diameter if you try harder. It's the root stock that'll set the size anyway- not the variety grafted on top. Try and get a dwarfing root stock (I can't tell you what type off the top of my head) and then multigraft onto it. You'll need two varieties on the one tree anyway for cross pollination unless there are other Japanese plums nearby. Cheers, Daniel. (PS I'm a fan of Mariposa and Satsuma although Ruby blood is nice as well and a little earlier to ripen) | About the Author 3rd May 2011 11:13pm #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |
