Kris starts with ... Hi I have a air layered r2e2 mango tree which was air layered from a 5 year olds tree, it was planted in a pot for a year and have been transfered to the ground for a year and is growing well. Mike says... Kris, it is lychees,rambutans and longans that get air layered most often due to their vigorous rooting.Air layered plants are more prone to blowing over and root rot from wet weather but it is done with more tropcal fruits these days including mangoes.It should be fine especially if it is a bit elevated and water doesn't pool near it.If you prune it very short,keep a permanent stake or espalier the tree it could have a long productive life. | About the Author Cairns 17th December 2011 9:27pm #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |
