hi,

please check out this link, this is the sandpaper fig i ordered a few days ago:
http://www.daleysfruit.com.au/plant/Sandpaper-Fig-Ficus-Coronata.htm

i ordered it thinking it would be suitable for australian climate considering it is native to australia. however, i did not consider that it is a rainforest tree and this concerned me later. do you think i have ordered the wrong fig for melbourne climate?

cheers,

tara.

Worth a try, sound like something different. I'd just make sure it gets water and maybe filtered sun as it would in a rainforest. I think native fruits are a good thing.

this plant is so decidous, me and my friend we both ordered this plant too back in Aug 08

I've kept my in a bigger pot, and it's fruiting now, and the plant hasn't grown past my wasteline yet.

However in this heat waves we've been experiencing lately down here in Sydney, the new growths /tips have been scorched.

So I think Melbourne too is a good place for it.

I've kept mine in direct sunny spot, as this plant loves it.

that's for the tips. yeah i think the sun has been a bit harsh on it. it is in a sunny spot with a bit of shade. hopefully this will protect it enough. the heat has been making it lose it's leaves.
