This seems to be a bit of a rarity in nurseries these days. I just need one plant, can be small. All mine are from the same mother tree so cross-pollination won't happen. Can trade one of mine for yours, or if someone knows who is stocking them...

Chilean guava plants are still readily available in nurseries around Melbourne, some even have large advanced ones.
But I find them very finnicky growers and they usually suffer die back or die completely in my conditions. I would be interested to learn if there are any tricks to growing them successfully although everything I have read suggests that they don't have any special requirements and can grow in full sun or part shade. So I have no idea why I can't get them to grow.
You can buy small plants online for $4.90 from Botanex:

Thanks guys. Never even heard of Botanex. They look like a good outfit.
@Linton Maybe there are different strains floating around and you need to try from different sources. People in Victoria definitely succeed with them - in full sun.
I however need a small hedge for a shady spot that has some late direct sun. Obviously not ideal, but even if just for the fragrant flowers and minimal fruit would be worth it. There is no other edible option, unless you can think of something. Perhaps Lonicera caerulea? Lingonberry? Pretty sure they need good sun too and are not as suited for hedging.

I need a replacement plant... unfortunately no one (including Botanex) seems to propagate this anymore?
