Soil Preparation for Avocado

    2 responses

Hey guys, I am in the mid of preparing my soil for planting 2 avocado tree in July.

This would be my first time growing avocado and I really want to make it right. I am in seqld, north of Brisbane, so I am guessing both my Hass and Shepherd would do well.

The question is, what should I prepare prior to planting these 2 trees into the ground? I have checked the water drainage and it looked good. Loamy at the top and clayey after 20th cm. Getting composted chicken manure this weekend and let it sit on the ground until July.

What else should I do then?

Hi, it is recommended that you plant avocados on a mound if the soil is clay no matter how much organic matter you fill. Self Sufficient Me does a great video explaining it and he lives in SEQLD. I will put a link in the next post.
