Something eating the bark of our kaffir lime tree in Newcastle, NSW. Any ideas and how to fix/deter? TIA....

I am in Sydney and I have the same problem with my avocado tree to the point that whole branches get killed. I suspect possums since this seems to happen at night. They also eat new mango flowers and new grape leaves. Very destructive. My only suggestion is to spray with neem oil which makes things less palatable.

Thanks, yes I'm thinking possum(s). Might have been running/accessing it from the adjoining fence, have cut those branches so well clear of the fence and netted it, we'll see what happens. Cheers,
