Jules29 starts with ... Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone has experienced their subtropical apples being a strange shape? Mine has just come into fruit for the first time and they're almost cylinder like in shape, very skinny and not rounded out. Also the seeds are either absent or only one or two. I've never grown apples before. Do I just need to leave them longer?? Any ideas? | About the Author Jules29 Atherton Tablelands 17th February 2019 10:42pm #UserID: 19829 Posts: 1 View All Jules29's Edible Fruit Trees |
Caleb (Staff) says... Hi Jules, It could be the age of the tree, other possible factors are lack of water, or pollination. Some plants are often semi-fertile and produce fruit without seeds when not cross pollinated; think seedless black sapote, cocktail avocados, etc. Water is always an option for underdeveloped fruit. I hope this helps, thanks, - Caleb from Daleys Fruit Tree Nursery | About the Author Caleb (Staff) Kyogle 13th March 2019 9:13pm #UserID: 19506 Posts: 35 View All Caleb (Staff)'s Edible Fruit Trees |
