Subtropical Apple - Weird Shape?

    1 responses

Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone has experienced their subtropical apples being a strange shape? Mine has just come into fruit for the first time and they're almost cylinder like in shape, very skinny and not rounded out. Also the seeds are either absent or only one or two. I've never grown apples before. Do I just need to leave them longer?? Any ideas?

Hi Jules,
It could be the age of the tree, other possible factors are lack of water, or pollination. Some plants are often semi-fertile and produce fruit without seeds when not cross pollinated; think seedless black sapote, cocktail avocados, etc. Water is always an option for underdeveloped fruit.

I hope this helps, thanks,
