Pokarekare starts with ...
I need to transplant a tamarillo in a pot ASAP. It is about 2 m high. When is the best time to do it and can I plant it deeper than previously as you can with tomatoes? Also, if it is pruned can you use the printings as cuttings? Many thanks!

If you are careful and choose a cool day you can transplant almost anything that was grown in a pot, as long as you don't disturb the root system too much.
Not too sure about planting deeper, as that usually applies to plants with soft stems (no bark). You can certainly use the prunings as cuttings. Good luck with that, as despite being an experienced gardener I have had no success with them two years running!

I've found that just taking off a fairly large cutting and potting it immediately will strike the cutting, one of mine which is only 20cm or so is already flowering. This is how I keep a spare around.
even recently did a test with a small cutting in the ground from my orange tamarillo and it looks to be growing.
