Hi Wens,

Are you after it ripe and sweet or green and sour??

Many of the Asian/Vietnamese shops at Inala stock ripe, sweetened tamarind most of the time. How fresh they are I am unsure of as ripe tamarind has quite a long shelf life.

You can pick tamarind off the trees along one of the main roads in West End/Highgate Hill (Dornoch Terrace) near the city. I forget the season for it cause I haven't done so for over 10 years but there is plenty out there. (enough for everyone) We used to get them green and ripened off the samne trees on the same day. Best thing is it's ALL FREE and you know how fresh it is!!!

Good luck and hope this helps you.

Also - according to the Brisbane Public Harvest website, there is 15 plus tamarind trees along both sides of Swann rd, corner of Clarence rd, St Lucia.
