Hello! I was wondering if anyone knew if there anywhere to find Shikuwasa trees in Australia? I’m trying to source one or two and haven’t had any luck!

I doubt that you could buy a tree here in Australia.
But, if you have fresh fruit, you could always grow from seed.
Best of luck!

I have a couple of Shikuwasa plants that are about 6-7 years old, they all from 1 original plant, and I tried many times to create new plants from cutting, eventually made some successful cutting and also made some grafting on lemon and flying dragon rootstock, which state you are located?

Hi Ka_who, I couldn’t help but notice your post. I too have been looking for a shikuwasa plant for the past year. Wondering if you have a spare one that you’re open to selling?

Yes, I have some, but they are very small at the moment. I was about to sell or swap some for other citrus plants, but I've been told to get them tested for possible pathogens first! So, I'm trying to get the Biosecurity folks to ID and test them to be safe!

ka_who, I'd be interested too - once youve had it tested. have you ever had any fruit off your tree? how did you even get it in the first place?

Have only just seen this thread, but if you have sufficient plants Ka_who then I would most certainly like to purchase one.
Good luck with the biosecurity testing!

Hi everyone, I have some updates since my last post. First, I had the mother plant tested for exotic pathogens by the Australian Biosecurity Agency, and it came back clean. The tree has also started flowering this year, but I had to remove most of the flowers since it's in a small pot. I’ve been experimenting with grafting and cloning, but cloning has a low yield and is slow. I still haven’t found suitable rootstock, but I managed to create a couple of new small trees from cuttings. I'm looking at a local grower to source some rootstock, though I need to negotiate the price, as they sell for $50-70, which is expensive for me. My best options might be cuttings or air layering. If I manage to sell any, it will be a while. I'm located in Mount Colah, NSW, and I'm not sure if I can ship to other states. If you're interested, feel free to email me(almslogin(o)gmail... use your imagination for missing parts :) !!!), and I’ll let you know when I have everything sorted out!
