reason being my Gulf Beauty is flowering right now, but the pollinator, gulf gold shows zero signs of even bud break, so it would be really nice if everybody could tell me if they have any plums flowering right now. 11 august.

cheers all.

Gulf Gold should be flowering now as they have a similar chill requirement to Gulf Beauty. You will find as trees get older they should flower at a similar time. Flowering times can vary marginally in different climates, a good hint to spread flowering times over a longer period is to summer prune so as to encourage fruiting wood that will flower later in winter. This will also mean a longer fruiting season.

For Mal,
I only have one "Tropical" Plum which is flowering here now in the Sub/Tropics. I am including 2 Photos as maybe Greg or Kath can give me the name.

With Thanks Bazza

For Correy,
Well Correy the circular wire mesh was not necessary for drainage at first but my own idea for cotaining the manure/mulch etc during strong winds. I was forever raking the straw mulch up each day after the windy days. Everyone who visits make similar comments like yours. i will explain the set up in detail for anyone interested.

That is a fantastic idea. It makes it look very neat as well.

I would be interested to know the little tricks that you discovered in the set up if you have time.
