I planted seeds from what looked like a jap pumpkin that my mum grew, but the pumpkins that I'm growing don't look anything like the pumpkin that the seed came from?
There are ten pumpkins on the vine and they are all shaped like a pear. What kind of pumpkin is this?

Some seed of Pumpkins are F1 hybrids. The seed out of these fruit will be variable. Yours looks similar to many other relatives of Jap pumpkin.

Another possibility is two varieties were grown nearby and cross pollinated. This is not unusual if Jap and Butternut are grown next to each other.
Hope it tastes ok.
It still looks green so it may change colour

If you keep growing these seed, you may get a mix of types on different vines.

Here is a pic of a local pumpkin stall, yours looks similar to some of the variants here. If you grow the seed from your fruit, you might get a mix of types. It can be good for a bit of variety. You could save seed of those you really like.
