Wrapping individual fruit on trees to protect them (forum)

Glasshouse starts with ...
Hi
I have trouble each year with fruit bats, birds and possums eating from my fruit trees. I have tried netting which just caught a few fruit bats accidently so I was thinking this year of wrapping the fruit individually. Can I use stockings for this or is there something better to use? Would stockings allow enough light through to ripen them? I am mainly looking at wrapping peaches, mangoes and apples.
Thanks!

Glasshouse, when I used old stockings the birds could see the fruit too clearly, so they pecked at them anyway.
I am thinking this year of buying some organza gift bags from eBay. They come in different sizes and colours. Seem like a good idea.

Thanks Julie. Birds are a bit more clever than I thought! Let us know how you go with the organza bags.

I am trying to find blue bags, as birds are not attracted to that colour. Still looking, but I am determined to get more of my fruit this year.
And yes, birds are very clever, especially parrots.

I've been using these on my Peaches, Loquats and 4 types of Guavas. haven't lost anything as yet, but I have sacrificial papayas that seem to keep the fruit bats etc at bay.
