Hi All

Hope someone can help me out I have purchased 4 different cuttings of yellow dragon fruit from different places I have them with my other 20 odd varieties they have fruited this year but turns out all the fruit are red besides the obvious that I might have conned does any one have any ideas why they aren't true to type and yellow? I have used multiple pollens from others to pollinate.

Generally speaking the yellow ones are spinier that red or white cultivars. Can you see if this is the case on the plant itself

Hi thanks for the response the spikey variety started off extra spinier and looked different to the rest but now looks the same as the rest same with the aussie gold/isis gold the fruit were red outside and white inside also really small compared to the rest about the size of a mandarin.

Maybe it could be accidental cross pollination?

Yes very possible I collect the pollen from all the 17 or so varieties dry it out and keep in the freezer which I use to pollinate all of them all the others seem true to type pinks purples whites and reds etc. except for the yellows they are white on the inside as they are supposed to be but red on the outside although this last lot of fruit are a lot lighter in color more of a pink you can see more of the yellow coming through. Is the a certain variety I should be using to pollinate these yellows?

My understanding of botany is that the fruit characteristic depends on the parent plant. Only the seeds would be affected by how the flowers are pollinated.
