Sloe berries - Hi micarle
yes they are prunus spinosa (blackthorn)
small plumlike with a dark purple skin and a very astringent type flavour

Sloe berries - This is probably an odd question, but I thought it was worth asking.
Just this year I started getting interested in "heirloom" fruit, which includes sloe berries.
After looking around it seems like a pretty good crop is coming on.
