A small deciduous shrub whose berries are used to make elderberry wine. Elderberry plants are also grown as ornamental plants in the garden and are frost tolerant. Primocanes on Chilcotin may produce a small autumn crop on their tips, prune these tips back once the fruits are finished, but keep the cane for next years fruit.
