A small to medium pear-shaped fruit with thick, green skin that peels easily. The fruit has an excellent flavour, medium oil content and does not turn brown when cut. H Feb/March High yielding. It displays good resistance to frost and anthracnose. While not truly dwarf, this tree can be described as reliably smaller than others due to the spreading habit and a size of roughly 4x4 m which make it a more manageable companion in small yards.

Buddha's hand are one of the oddities of the citrus family as unlike other well known citrus they're not eaten fresh. This fruit looks like an old shriveled hand with a thick uneven tightly adhered rind. Low on juice they can be acidic or sweet. Citrons are grown today for the specialty market, their prime use being as candied peel or for use in religious ceremonies. The Buddha's hand is such an interesting looking and fragrant fruit that it can be used to scent a room, if left on a kitchen bench or in the bathroom it will fill the space with a lovely aromatic citrus scent. The fermented pod of this climbing orchid is harvested from the Vanilla Vine or orchid, an aromatic sweet scents used to flavour cakes, and perfumes. Must be hand pollinated. The only insect capable of pollinating the blossom is the Melipona, a bee (see video) , native only to Mexico so all plants must be hand pollinated within 12 hours of the flower opening. The pods take nine month to develop.

Red Catuai is the main variety grown commercially in Nth Qld and does have some susceptibility to leaf rust and other common coffee plant pests.
