Clusters of deep-red flowers up to 40 mm long occur on stems to 1.5 - 2 meters in height. Flowering occurs over a long period from late spring to mid summer. A clumping plant with leaves 60cm long. The flower height will vary depending on site conditions. Big Red is drought tolerant but will flower best in moist well drained soils. Big Red is a long-lived variety and is one of the hardiest varieties of kangaroo paws.
