Originating from the Bolivian part of the Amazon basin in South America, the Bolivian name of the fruit is Achachairu and translated means honey kiss. The rind is very thick and when the peel is candied peel it is used in the food industry and as a common ingredient in fruit cakes, plum pudding, sweet rolls and candies. If fully ripened on the tree the fruits are very aromatic and yellow, they can be placed in a bowl to scent a room. Sensitive to frost, the foliage and fruit can also be damaged by intense heat and drought. Sudachi - Seedling

I bought a small size sudachi plant. I can't wait until this citrus tree grows. We make hotpot in winter using a dipping sauce with sudachi juice or yuzu juice. It's a really refreshing fragrant fruit. It's different to lemon or lime. I love it.
