The fragrant fruits of the citron are highly variable in shape and texture. They can be oblong or oval, rough or smooth. The rind is very thick and when candied peel it is used as a common ingredient in fruit cakes, plum pudding and sweet rolls. If fully ripened on the tree the fruits are very aromatic and yellow - orange, they can be placed in a bowl to scent a room. Sensitive to frost, the foliage and fruit can also be damaged by intense heat and drought. Citron has been cultivated since ancient times, and is still much revered today for cultural and religious reasons. Our seedlings come from a parent that produces elongated and pronounced knobbly fruit

Sudachi - Seedling

I bought a small size sudachi plant. I can't wait until this citrus tree grows. We make hotpot in winter using a dipping sauce with sudachi juice or yuzu juice. It's a really refreshing fragrant fruit. It's different to lemon or lime. I love it.
